Antarctic Ice Shelves


The globe’s most remote continent stores 90 percent of the world’s freshwater in the millennia-old glacial ice that forms most of its surface. It is the fringes of this ice – expansive floating shelves reaching out to the sea – that have been disintegrating in an unusual and alarming pattern for decades.

One of three deep dives on climate change that accompanied the series "Warmer World" for The Associated Press in the early Aughts. We're looking forward to revisiting these topics for Coast & Horizon a climate reporting project launching this summer. #cartography #climate #ice
